The Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) or commonly known as the national ID was launched last year in its initial step of going house-to-house and collecting demographic information from selected low-income household heads in 32 priority provinces. This is to adhere to health and safety protocols imposed because of the pandemic.

The Step 2 of the PhilSys Registration is now open at the City Library, 4th Flr., Marcos Building. Step 2 will validate the supporting documents and capture biometric information.

City Mayor Dong Gualberto welcomed the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) La Union Provincial Statistical Office headed by Chief Statistical Specialist Ms. Danites E. Teñido Ph.D. in a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday, February 22, 2021 held at the City Library.

In the same event, Mayor Dong participated in the registration process, and encourages the residents to do the same.

Through the PhilSys, we will be able to have a more comprehensive collection of data and streamlined services for our people. This also gives us an easier and faster way to access and apply for eligibility to social welfare programs and benefits.

Even amid the pandemic, the national government in partnership with the local government units continue to be at work to ensure public service continuity. Despite being in quarantine and under limitations for the past year, we are able to carry on.
