Government agencies, environmental organizations, and community stakeholders came together to plant 500 assorted fruit-bearing seedlings across a 1,125-square-meter area at the Botanical Garden in celebration of Arbor Day 2026 on June 25, 2026.

The Philippine Statistics Authority – La Union, Philippine Coast Guard Regional Training Center, Philippine Coast La Union Station, the Philippine Coast Guard Northwestern Luzon District, Samahang Ilokano, the Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office I, the Philippine National Police Regional Forensic Unit 1, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology – City Jail, DOERs, Inc., Lingsat Marine Protected Area, Kasay Marine Protected Area, and Poro Marine Protected Area were among the agencies who participated in the said activity.

Also present at the event were City Councilor Hon. Leonardo Soriano Jr., Chairperson of the Committee on Environment, and staff of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, the City Agriculture Office, and the City Public Information Office.

The annual observance of Arbor Day serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to protect and preserve the environment through tree planting and proper care of natural resources.

Through initiatives such as this, participating organizations continue to contribute to biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, and the creation of greener and healthier communities.
