128 YEARS OF FREEDOM: CITY CELEBRATES PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE DAY 2026
The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, along with the Union Masonic Lodge No. 70, honored the Philippine Flag through a flag-raising ceremony in celebration of the 128th Philippine Independence Day at the City Hall Grounds on June 12, 2026.
In addition to flag raising, the event featured a wreath-laying ceremony led by City Government officials, the Veterans Federation of the Philippines, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, uniformed personnel, the Department of Education Schools Division, and the Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines with the Order of the DeMolay.
The Philippine Navy also performed a 21-gun salute, which rendered honor to our heroes and their sacrifices for national freedom.
During the ceremony, City Vice Mayor Pablo C. Ortega delivered a message, emphasizing patriotism and the community’s shared commitment to public service. Lastly, City Councilor Hon. Kyle Marie Eufrosito Y. Nisce underscored the Filipino spirit that brought us the freedom we enjoy today.
The event eventually concluded with the singing of Pilipinas Kong Mahal as a solidarity song.
May this day serve as a reminder of the sacrifices made by our heroes and of our collective responsibility to uphold the ideals of freedom and community-building here in our #PeoplesCity of #SanFernandoTayo.
