CGSFLU ORGANIZES THE RESCUE OLYMPICS WITH SCHOOLS, BARANGAYS IN THE CITY

The City Government of San Fernando, La Union (CGSFLU), through the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), organized the Rescue Olympics at the La Union Police Provincial Office (LUPPO) on December 2-3, 2025.

 

The two-day event featured activities such as lifting and moving, bandaging, firefighting, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

 

Three 8-member categories were contested during the event.

For the high school category, La Union National High School (LUNHS) emerged victorious, with Siboan-Otong High School and San Fernando South Central Integrated School as runner-ups. Dalumpinas Integrated School, Gifted Learning Center, and Union Christian College (UCC) also participated in this category.

 

Meanwhile, Dallangayan Elementary School won the Elementary Category, with Catbangen Elementary School and Dalumpinas Integrated School being close competitors. Other participants in the category were Bungro Elementary School, Canaoay Elementary School, Ilocanos Elementary School, Lingsat Integrated School, Santiago Elementary School, Siboan-Otong Elementary School, and San Fernando South Central Integrated School.

 

On the other hand, Barangay Cadaclan championed the barangay category, with Barangays Poro and Bato as 2nd and 3rd placers, respectively. Barangays San Francisco, Lingsat, and Dallangayan Este also competed in this category.

 

The activities were judged by Ms. Julie Ann Hipona-Sias, Mr. Andrew Fil A. Gonzales, Engr. Roosevelt Ducusin, Ms. Adel Rodriguez, Ms. Daniela Kricia Estioco, Ms. Joan Castro, Ms. Jhenie Babe Doña, Mr. Clinton Leyaley, Mr. Vincent Sipalay, Mr. Mark Andrew Cabanban, Mr. Christian G. Rillera and Mr. Marvin Quinto.

 

Furthermore, the activities were also guided by coaches Ms. Merla B. Dingle, Ms. Diana Rose Rillera, Ms. Joan Castro, Ms. Daniela Kricia Estioco, Ms. Joneriza Gala, Mr. Roosevelt Ducusin, Mr. Clinton Leyaley, and Mr. Adel Rodriguez.

 

The event was in partnership with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), the Philippine National Police (PNP) Regional Medical and Dental Unit, LUPPO, the Department of Education (DepEd), General Services Office (GSO), Bureau of Fire Protection (PNP), and the Special Projects Office (SPO) under the Office of the City Mayor (OCM).

 

City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto, City Councillor Hon. Joseph Clarence D. Valero, City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Sheila Marie A. Primicias, CESO VI, and Acting Provincial Director of the LUPPO PCOL Redentor C. Ulsano also graced the event.
