The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, through the Persons with Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) awarded the 10 Most Outstanding Women with Disabilities at the Gregorio “Bunog” R. Hufano Session Hall on March 30, 2026.

The empowered women who were sought and recognized for their exceptional abilities to inspire their communities through their advocacies were Ms. Melanie C. Untalasco, Ms. Rina G. Sabado, Ms. Karen-Rose F. Madera, Ms. Alma M. Bustique, Ms. Cindy S. Hufana, Ms. Kathlyn N. Balon-Angey, Ms. Maria Evelyn T. Zamoranos, Ms. Shirley P. Buen, and Ms. Charmaine J. Iglesia.

A special award was also conferred to the Association of Women with Disabilities (AWWD), received by their President Ms. Vivian G. Casuga and Vice President Ms. Sharinelle de Padua.

City Councilor Hon. Leonardo R. Soriano, Jr. also attended the event, together with Ms. Valerie Ann S. Valdez representing the City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto, and Ms. Angela Ducusin representing City Councilor Hon. Lilibeth G. Hipol. Head of PDAO, Dr. Mark B. Inocencio also graced the event to deliver the opening remarks.

The event also featured a special performance courtesy of the SMK CSFLU Group.
