CITY GOVERNMENT OF SAN FERNANDO TOPS IN 5 PILLARS DURING THE CMCI REGIONAL AWARDING CEREMONY

The City Government of San Fernando, La Union received regional awards from the Department of Trade and Industry during the Cities & Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Regional Awarding Ceremony of the Fiesta Haraya: Rimat ti Amianan held at the Candon City Arena, Candon City, Ilocos Sur on November 6, 2024.
Among the 9 cities and 116 municipalities in Region 1, the City of San Fernando was recognized as Rank 1 Overall Most Competitive Component City for being Top 1 in the pillars of Economic Dynamism, Government Efficiency, Infrastructure, and Resiliency, while Top 2 in Innovation.
During the awarding ceremony, City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto, Ms. Rizalyn D. Medrano, Department Head of the Local Economic and Business Development Office (LEBDO), and Ms. Julie Ann Hipona-Sias, Department Head of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) received the plaque and certificate of recognition.
Recently, the city also achieved a significant milestone as 9th Overall Most Competitive under the Component Cities Category and garnering Top 1 in the Government Efficiency Pillar in the country. This reflects the local government’s compliance to national standards and regulation in providing quality services and supporting economic growth.
Through these CMCI Regional Awards, the competitiveness of participating Local Government Units were recognized to enhance their strengths and identify areas for improvement resulting in good governance.
