Upland barangays receive medical care this Christmas through City Task Force UMISU

The City Government’s Task Force Umay Mangted Iti Sungbat (UMISU) continues its mission of bringing help to the less privileged citizens of the People’s City. To date, the Task Force has conducted three medical missions to upland barangays in the City.

The first three out of the four legs of the medical mission were held last December 15, 17 and 22, 2020 in Barangays Nagyubuyuban, Masicong and Sacyud respectively. The last leg will be held at Barangay Cabarsican on December 29, 2020.

With UMISU partners La Union Medical Society, La Union Dental Association, La Union Medical Representatives, and Sitel Group, the City Government provided free medical check-ups to the residents of the far-flung barangays of the city. Free medicines packs, vitamins, and dental care packs were also provided.

Information about COVID-19 transmission prevention and dental hygiene was also communicated to the residents.

Song and dance numbers were also prepared by guest performers to entertain the residents while waiting for their turn for consultation.

City Health Office physicians and nurses, representatives from the Department of Health (DOH), and City Government employees were also present to extend help.

Task Force UMISU is a comprehensive rapid action program which aims to provide immediate solutions to critical problems faced by disenfranchised communities in the City.

Instead of spending on bright lights and grand fireworks, the City Government redirected its efforts to provide much needed medical care to our brothers and sisters in underserved areas of San Fernando this Christmas.
