URBAN GARDENING IN SAN FERNANDO

To promote urban gardening, the City Government through the City Agriculture Office allocated seedlings, seeds, and fertilizers to 1,500 backyard gardeners in a distribution ceremony held at the Food Terminal in Brgy. Biday last June 24.

Repacked seeds of ampalaya, eggplant, okra, pechay, kangkong, and pole sitaw were distributed to the representatives of 18 urban barangays in the city. Aside from these, they also received 75 trays of eggplant seedlings, 56 trays of tomato seedlings, and 15 trays of ampalaya seedlings along with fertilizers, sacks, night soil, and saw dust.

City councilors Chary Nisce, Rizalde Laudencia, and Arnel Almazan were present in the said distribution ceremony.

Urban gardening is a natural stress-reliever and a good outdoor exercise. It does not only improve the beauty of our surroundings but also improves our health. It lets us spend our time wisely, especially now that most residents are confined at home. This is also vital in maintaining food security and ensuring general safety for our residents against COVID-19. #SanFernandoTayo
