MAKATI BUSINESS CLUB RECOGNIZES CITY GOVERNMENT AS DIGITAL DEMOCRACY CHAMPION

Makati Business Club (MBC) recognized the City Government of San Fernando, La Union as one of the digital democracy champions in the Philippines during the first Digital Democracy Awards held in Hilton Hotel Manila, Pasay City on November 15, 2024.
Together with the United States Ambassador to the Philippines MaryKay L. Carlson, MBC conferred the award to the City Government for adopting the Digital Democracy Project (DDP) in its government initiatives hence promoting transparency and digital dialogue with its local citizens.
Mr. Mark Anthony D. Latoja, lead of the city’s DDP and representative of City Mayor Hermenegildo A. Gualberto, attended the said Awards to receive the recognition.
With him were DDP Secretariat Ms. Zhandra Louisa V. Manongdo, Civil Society Organizations (CSO) Desk Officer Ms. Imelda B. Quindara, and CSO representative and Local People’s Council External Secretariat Ms. Loreta B. Vergara.
The MBC is the pioneer of the DDP. The city’s partner, United States Agency for International Development, introduced this project to the City Government and was launched last August.
