CENRO PROVIDES LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT TO FISHERFOLKS

The City Government of San Fernando, La Union, led by Acting City Mayor Alf Ortega, awarded fishing supplies to Fisherfolks of Barangay Lingsat through the City Environment and Natural Resources Office at the Lingsat Marine Protected Area last May 26,2021. The beneficiaries are registered motorized and non-motorized banca users, speargun and floater users.
They also received styrofoams, rapala lures, blue and white nylon fishing lines, kalo kalo and wires.
Meanwhile, along with the awarding of fishing gears, the first Sport Fishing Event was also held. Sponsored by Hook Pro-Elyu, the event was participated by fishing enthusiasts from the City and neighboring towns.
Moreover, the prototype of Floating Kubo was launched. The City Department Heads and City Officials were given the opportunity to experience and ride the said floating kubo. The prototype was eyed to become an additional tourist attraction of the City.
Councilor Rizalde Laudencia, Chairperson of the Committe on Environment and CENRO Head, Valmar Valdez also helped in the distribution of fishing gears and prizes to the winners.
Other partners of the event were the Provincial Government of La Union, Baniit Ti Amianan, and Aragan TV.
Acting City Mayor Alf Ortega assured the City Government’s full support to all events that will contribute to the welfare of the people and environment.
