As part of its commitment to youth empowerment, the City Government opened three (3) more Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Teen Centers located in Barangays Cabaroan, Dallangayan Este and Tanqui. This brings the total to six (6) established Teen Centers as part of the City SK Federation’s celebration of Linggo ng Kabataan. Barangays Catbangen, Ilocanos Sur and Poro were the first to open their Teen Centers.

Housing several features such as audio visual space, chat hubs, e-library, mini libraries, and youth desk intended for millennials and Generation Z’s, these facilities are readily accessible for the youth of the said barangays to help safeguard their welfare. The City Government further pledged to provide 1, 000 units of tablets to be distributed among the six (6) SK Teen Centers.

The inauguration was led by City Mayor Alf Ortega, Vice Mayor Chary Nisce, and City SK Federated President Mark Anthony Ducusin, and attended by SK and Barangay officials, Barangay Heath Workers, along with the City Schools Division of San Fernando Superintendent Dr. Rowena C. Banzon, CESO V, and Commission on Population (POPCOM) Region 1 employees led by Regional Director Erma Yapit.

In his inspirational message, Mayor Alf gave his admiration for the youth of San Fernando because they are driven to aspire for their dreams and give hope to everyone. He reassured the City Government’s continuous support for youth initiatives. “As your City Mayor, dahil binibigyan ninyo ng pag-asa ang ating siyudad, tuluy-tuloy naman ang aking suporta at ang suporta ng City Government kasama ang ating Vice Mayor Chary para sa inyo”, he remarked.

These initiatives prove the City Government’s sustained commitment to provide the youth of #SanFernandoAyayatenKa a safe, Smart City for everyone.
