“Naintindihan namin na sa ganitong panahon ng krisis, marami sa ating mga kaprobinsiaan ang labis na naaapektuhan. Kaya aming napagpasyahan na gumawa ng plataporma para maibahagi at matulungan sila sa kanilang mga hinaing at pangangailangan.”

PUSO PARA SA ELYU or PPE was created by a group of friends who knew they could do more in this time of crisis. Their sensitivity towards the needs of others is such an inspiration to all of us. Their group showed that even without having much, we only need our human agency and solidarity to help each other.

“Tatlong pamamaraan ang aming ginamit para dito. Una, nanghikayat kami ng mga kapamilya at mga kaibigan. Pangalawa, sa pamamagitan ng pagpopost sa Facebook Page, may mga mabubuting loob na nagtiwala para magpaabot ng tulong. Pangatlo, kami ay naki-partner sa La Union Multi-Sectoral Governance Council (MSGC) upang lalong mapalawig ang aming layunin at upang makalikom pa kami ng karagdagang tulong.”

So far, they have donated 50 sacks of rice, they have given food for 200 medical frontliners of four hospitals in La Union; and they have also given financial assistance to La Union Medical Society (LUMS) to buy Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

While it is true that COVID-19 has divided us physically making it seem difficult to contribute to the fight against this pandemic, our willpower can pave the way to make things happen.
